NEW HALL SCHOOL SHINES AT NIGERIA INFO FM I BEG TO DIFFER DEBATE TOURNAMENT

Over the past weeks, students from New Hall College have had the privilege to share with millions of radio listeners in Nigeria and overseas, their debating prowess in a keenly contested I Beg to Differ Debate Tournament for Secondary Schools in Lagos.

We are happy to announce that four of our students qualified for the playoff rounds of 32 contestants out of over two hundred entries from secondary school students in Lagos state for Season 6 of the tournament. Three of those students have now qualified for the rounds of 16!

We congratulate all our representatives who summoned the courage to participate in the live broadcast debate, where the point of argument is chosen minutes before the debate, and contestants are not allowed to come to the studio with any written document. This is not the easiest debate situation, but our children have stepped up to the plate on each occasion making themselves and the school proud.

The tournament continues in the round of 16 next week, and we are hopeful that our representatives will make it to the finals.

Participating in the debate, however is beyond winning for our school, it is a lifetime experience that our children get to share their views with millions of listeners across the world, discussing political, economic, and social issues. It is also the opportunity to help our students hone their skills in public speaking.

Congratulations to Uzonwanne Emmanuel, David Minanengiyeofori, and Claire Mica for making it to the rounds of 16 in Season 6 of Nigeria Info I Beg to Differ Debate Tournament!
