New Hall 7th Annual Inter House Sports. We set the pace!

Preparation is now in full swing for New Hall 7th Annual Inter House Sports which comes up on Saturday 15th February, 2020 at the school stadium.  You will recall that the school sports stadium, which has been declared as a World Youth  Sport Centre, was commissioned by the former Governor of Lagos State Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode in 2019.

In this year’s edition of the Inter House Sports, the school celebrates internationalism in youth sports in partnership with the International Federation of American Football and other notable international Nigerian sportsmen and sportswomen. The theme of the event is ‘ We set the pace!’

Various international sports, including Fencing, Cycling and American soccer have been added to the school sports events. This is a novelty, as the introduced sports are unique events in school inter-house sports competition in Nigeria.

Following the school’s tradition of participation, parents also get to play active parts in the inter-house sports, as there will a football match for parents. It is noteworthy, that parents of the school have been practicing at the school stadium in preparation for the match.

New Hall hopes to utilize sports as a means to enhancing children’s cognitive, psycho-motor and social skills. The school realizes the importance of sports in promotion of children’s physical fitness and health. And seeing that Nigeria is grossly underrepresented in major international sports, the school plans to play serious roles in the provision of sport facilities and equipment to develop and promote the interest of its students in various sports.

Later this year, the school will host a major sport event in Lekki to further demonstrate its commitment to youths sports and sports education in general.
