Knowledge is knowing tomato is a fruit, wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad – Miles Kington.
It is the appreciation of the wisdom in healthy fruit eating habit, that pupils at New Hall International School Lekki, organize a Fruit Day every session.
This year’s Fruit Day had children research and present information on the origin and nutritional values of various fruits, from cranberry to pomegranate and marrow and sour sop.
The presentations on Fruit Day though organized by the pupils, usually involve teachers and parents, who participate in the discussion on the benefits of fruits and in the actual eating of fruits.
The discussion this year, was however done under strict hygiene while observing COVID-19 protocols.
The focus was on how regular eating of fruits is a healthy lifestyle and a strong remedy to all forms of diseases.
In the end, the school hopes to raise children to embrace a healthy fruit eating habit, make them conscious of the health benefits of different local and foreign grown fruits, and include fruits in their diet.
